Replacement for Baekhyeon Little League Baseball Field Scheduled for Demolition

On the 25th, Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province held a groundbreaking ceremony at Hwangsaeul Sports Park, located at 42 Sunae-dong in Bundang-gu, to launch the Little League baseball field construction project.

The groundbreaking ceremony, held at 2:00 p.m. that day, was attended by Shin Sangjin, Mayor of Seongnam, local members of the National Assembly, provincial and city council members, a Senior Executive Vice President of NCSoft, the Head of the Investment Development Division at Mirae Asset Global Investments, the head of the Baseball Softball Association, and about 150 local residents.
The Little League baseball field at Hwangsaeul Sports Park will be built with a total project cost of 3.5 billion won, creating one field (approximately 5,000 square meters) within a total area of 9,700 square meters.
Auxiliary facilities such as dugouts (player waiting areas), a scorekeeping room, shade structures for rest, and landscaping facilities will also be installed.
The city plans to push ahead with construction with the goal of completing it within this year.
Once the Little League baseball field opens, it will provide a stable training environment for youth players aged 9 to 12 who belong to six Little League teams currently active in the area.
Seongnam City pursued the construction of the Little League baseball field at Hwangsaeul Sports Park to replace Baekhyeon Little League Baseball Field, the only Little League baseball field within the city limits, which is scheduled to be demolished in the second half of this year due to the Baekhyeon MICE development project in Jeongja-dong.
The NCSoft consortium will cover the entire project cost of 3.5 billion won for the Little League baseball field at Hwangsaeul Sports Park as part of its contribution to the local community.

The consortium purchased a 25,719-square-meter city-owned site at 641 Sampyeong-dong in Bundang-gu in April 2021 for 837.7 billion won and is currently pursuing the construction of a software promotion facility there, scheduled from April 2024 to October 2027.
An official from Seongnam City said, "The project cost support from the NCSoft consortium will remain a model case of win-win cooperation between local government and business," adding, "The Little League baseball field at Hwangsaeul Sports Park will serve both as a place where the dreams and hopes of young players can grow and as a hub of unity for citizens."
