The KOSPI index made history by closing in the 6,000 range. During the session, it even broke through 6,100, showing solid growth momentum.

On the 25th, the KOSPI closed at 6,083.86, up 114.22 points (1.91%) from the previous day. This is the first time in history that it has finished above the 6,000 level. During intraday trading, the KOSPI hit a record high of 6,144.71.


By investor type, individual investors and institutions led the rally by purchasing 643.384 billion won and 675.88 billion won, respectively. In contrast, foreign investors recorded a net selling of 1.498856 trillion won.


By sector, there were large gains in construction (+6.78%), metals (+5.24%), securities (+4.10%), insurance (+3.74%), and transportation and storage (+3.30%). Most other sectors were also strong, including paper and lumber (+2.14%), electrical and electronics (+1.64%), and machinery and equipment (+1.18%).


Among large-cap stocks by market capitalization, Samsung Electronics closed at 203,500 won (+1.75%) and SK Hynix finished at 1,018,000 won (+1.29%). During the session, Samsung Electronics climbed to 206,500 won and SK Hynix surged to 1,038,000 won. Hyundai Motor (+9.3%) and Kia (+12.9%) also rose sharply. Korea Zinc (+12.9%), Samsung Life Insurance (+10.0%), and Mirae Asset Securities (+8.9%) likewise ended higher.


The KOSDAQ index closed at 1,165.25, up 0.25 points (0.02%).


By investor type, individual investors posted a net purchase of 489.092 billion won, while foreigners and institutions recorded net selling of 319.44 billion won and 128.037 billion won, respectively.


By sector, the KOSDAQ ended mixed. Textiles and apparel (-2.66%), medical and precision instruments (-2.17%), pharmaceuticals (-1.23%), and distribution (-1.23%) declined, while transportation equipment and components (+4.34%), financials (+1.51%), and paper and lumber (+1.11%) advanced.


Among major KOSDAQ stocks by market capitalization, performances were mixed as well. Olix (+13.4%), SPG (+11.0%), Rainbow Robotics (+7.8%), Hyundai Movex (+6.5%), and Ecopro (+3.8%) gained, whereas Classys (-10.9%), Samchundang Pharm (-4.7%), EO Technics (-3.2%), and Alteogen (-1.5%) ended lower.


Meanwhile, in the Seoul foreign exchange market, the won-dollar exchange rate closed at 1,429.4 won, down 13.1 won from the previous trading day.
