"Daegu POL Supporters 2nd Cohort" Launched
Expanding Online Communication-Based Promotion

To expand its communication base with citizens and strengthen its digital promotion capabilities, the Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency has launched the "Daegu POL Promotion Supporters 2nd Cohort" and begun full-scale activities.

Daegu Police Promote Public Safety Through Citizen-Created Content Daegu Police launches the "Daegu POL Promotion Supporters" 2nd cohort to strengthen citizen-participatory public safety outreach; 30 selected for eight-month activities to boost policy support through online content.

The supporters group, launched on February 25, is a program designed to build a citizen-participatory public safety promotion system. Thirty citizens with content creation skills were selected and will, over the next eight months, deliver Daegu Police’s key policies and on-site activities to the public.

The operation of this 2nd cohort was promoted based on the results of a public survey on policing policies, in which online promotion accounted for 42.5% as the most effective means of promoting police activities. Building on the results of the 1st cohort, Daegu Police extended the activity period from the previous four months to eight months and actively encouraged participation from citizens with digital promotion capabilities, such as photography and video shooting and AI-based content production.

As a result of operating the 1st cohort, the number of social media followers increased by 16.3% (1,090 people), and the number of content pieces produced rose by 640.9% (141 items) compared to the same period a year earlier, showing tangible outcomes. User engagement also increased by 22.7% (423 cases).

This recruitment drew 73 applicants, 2.4 times the target number, demonstrating high interest. A comprehensive evaluation was conducted on content creation skills, potential reach, prior activity experience, and willingness to participate, and a final 30 members were selected. The group consists of 12 men and 18 women, including 18 people in their 20s, 6 in their 30s, 3 in their 40s, and 3 in their 50s, covering a wide range of age groups.

In particular, participants include citizens from diverse professions and backgrounds, such as an influencer with about 70,000 subscribers, a tour guide capable of producing drone videos, participants residing outside the region, and an incumbent teacher, raising expectations for the diversity and reach of the promotional content.

To strengthen the professionalism of the supporters, Daegu Police plans to form teams by promotion theme and expand interdepartmental cooperation. The teams will be divided into investigation and criminal affairs, women, youth and traffic, and cyber and crime prevention, and will continuously enhance content production capabilities through workshops for sharing production techniques.

Daegu Police Commissioner Kim Byungwoo said, "Public safety policies are completed through citizens' understanding and empathy," adding, "We will actively support the supporters' activities so that police policies and on-site activities can be delivered to citizens in a friendlier and more effective way."

Going forward, the supporters will serve as a communication channel with citizens by producing a variety of content such as photos, posters, card news, and videos on topics including the prevention of voice phishing and drug crimes, everyday safety information, and police field activities, and disseminating it through their personal social media accounts and official police channels.
