Sejong Law Firm Appoints Former FSS Senior Deputy Governor Cho Hyoje

Capital Market Expert... 35 Years of Experience at the Financial Supervisory Service and Korea Exchange

Sejong Law Firm announced on the 25th that it has appointed capital market expert Cho Hyoje, who previously served as Senior Deputy Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service and Vice President of the Korea Exchange, as an advisor.

Advisor Cho graduated from the College of Law at Korea University and obtained his master’s and doctoral degrees in law from the same graduate school. Starting in 1988, he worked at the Financial Supervisory Service for about 31 years, holding a wide range of key positions including Team Leader of the Legal Affairs Office, Team Leader of the Securities Supervision Department, Head of the Asset Management Supervision Office, Head of the Sanctions Review Department, Director General of the Capital Markets Investigation Department 2, and Director General of the Financial Investment Department. After serving as Senior Deputy Governor in charge of disclosure and investigations at the Financial Supervisory Service, he became Vice President of the Korea Exchange (Head of the Derivatives Market Division), where he oversaw market operation and supervisory work.


Since his tenure at the Financial Supervisory Service, Advisor Cho has handled numerous tasks related to licensing, supervision and inspection, and sanctions review for securities companies and asset management companies, as well as disclosure review of listed companies and investigations into unfair trading. He is known as a veteran with extensive experience in core regulatory work in the capital markets, including sanctions review for violations of laws and regulations by financial institutions (such as banks, securities firms, insurance companies, and savings banks) and trading supervision in the derivatives market.


Going forward, Advisor Cho plans to provide comprehensive and practical advice to financial institutions and capital market participants on regulatory compliance, internal control system reviews, and issues related to disclosure and unfair trading.
