The Kolon Children's Dream Camp selects sixth-grade elementary school students from across the country who are nurturing their dreams in an exemplary way despite difficult circumstances, awards them scholarships, and supports their growth through various programs such as career exploration and sports activities.
This year, 30 selected scholarship students will each receive a total of 6.6 million won in scholarships over three years, paid on a quarterly basis. When they enter middle school, they will also be provided with a laptop or tablet PC for learning. Since the first camp in 2004, the foundation has supported approximately 3 billion won in total to 624 students through this year, contributing to talent development.
The 22nd cohort of scholarship students took part in physical education activities prepared by the education expert team of Kolon Sporex and participated in an eco-friendly energy experience program run by the visiting energy school Eco Longlong. During the career education session, they used artificial intelligence (AI) to visualize images of their desired future selves and thereby make their career paths more concrete. Former Dream Camp scholarship students who are now in college also joined as mentors and accompanying teachers, offering advice and encouragement to their juniors.
During the event, a ceremony was also held to award the "Special Scholarship for College Entrance" to students among the 15th cohort selected in 2019 who are entering university this year. Two selected students each received a scholarship of 5 million won. This scholarship was established at the 10th Dream Camp in 2014 with the intention of continuing to support students who diligently pursue their studies even after the foundation's regular support ends, and it is funded by personal contributions from Chairman Seo Changhee.
Broadcaster and entrepreneur Noh Hongchul attended the scholarship certificate ceremony again this year following last year and delivered a special lecture. He shared his experiences of challenge and achievement in pursuit of his dreams and offered words of encouragement to each scholarship student.
Chairman Seo Changhee said, "Our scholarship students have infinite possibilities and potential," adding, "The foundation will continue to provide opportunities and motivation so that children can fully unfold their dreams, and we will wholeheartedly support their future growth."
Since its establishment in 2002, the Kkotgwa Eorinwangja foundation has been nurturing children's dreams and hopes by operating a variety of scholarship and experiential programs, including Eco Longlong, Eco Longlong Cube, and the Kolon Children's Dream Camp.
