Hanul Materials Science announced on the 25th that its advanced materials subsidiary JKM (JK Materials) has received final approval for the occupancy and use of its newly constructed plant building located in Jeonui-myeon, Sejong Special Self-Governing City.
JKM will hold a completion ceremony on March 12 and begin production of core semiconductor materials. Since May 2024, the company has been building a plant on a 5,470-pyeong site, consisting of 8 buildings with a total floor area of 3,436 pyeong. The plant has been designed to safely and reliably produce high-quality PSM and polymer materials used in semiconductor patterning processes. With this completion, a total of seven buildings have been finished, including a photoresist manufacturing building, a utility management building, a low-temperature storage warehouse, a hazardous materials storage warehouse, and a dangerous goods storage warehouse.
Since its establishment in 2021, JKM has built the Yongin Research Center, equipped with cutting-edge facilities such as research staff, laboratory equipment, and pilot production facilities for high-quality material production, and has been dedicated to developing core semiconductor materials.
Starting with deionized water (DIW) cleaning early this year, the company will carry out cleaning operations and trial production of prototypes for process safety reports, and after completing the licensing and approval procedures, it plans to begin full-scale mass production in the second half of the year. It will also establish production facilities for core materials used in semiconductor back-end processes in stages, in line with its development schedule. The polymer manufacturing building currently under construction is also scheduled for completion within this year.
A JKM official said, "Approval for the use of this newly constructed plant is an important milestone for the company’s continued growth and for securing future competitiveness. We will build a production system that prioritizes safety and quality above all else to further strengthen customer trust."
