Companies are pushing ahead with artificial intelligence (AI) transformation, but an analysis shows that the data AI needs to use is not being properly utilized.

Salesforce: "The Key to AI Success Is Integrating Fragmented Data Across the Enterprise"

According to the "State of Data and Analytics" report released by Salesforce on the 25th, 60% of 500 Korean companies surveyed assessed themselves as "data-driven organizations," and 75% responded that the pressure to generate business value by leveraging data has increased.

Even though data is regarded as central to business strategy, it is not leading to business performance. While 84% of Korean companies believed that having a "solid data foundation" is a key factor for AI success, 61% of them said they are struggling to connect data to actual business challenges.

The main reason cited was a "fragmented data architecture." Scattered data within companies not only weakens AI capabilities, but also reduces understanding of customers and leads to lost sales. Korean companies estimated that 15% of their corporate data is trapped in silos or is inaccessible and unusable.

To resolve this kind of data fragmentation, companies are redesigning how they utilize data. A total of 86% of Korean companies answered that new governance and security approaches are needed for AI adoption, and 80% said that for an AI strategy to succeed, an overhaul of their overall data strategy is necessary.

Park Sejin, CEO of Salesforce Korea, said, "In the AI era, data is a core asset directly tied to corporate survival," adding, "Building a data foundation that can integrate scattered data across the company will become a key driver of corporate growth."
