On February 25, a video titled "Voice-phishing cash collector arrested thanks to restaurant owner's sharp eye" was posted on the official Facebook page of the Gyeonggi Bukbu Police Agency.

The video shows an incident that took place on December 30 last year in the parking lot of a restaurant in Yuyang-dong, Yangju, Gyeonggi Province, where a woman in her 80s lingered near an outdoor air conditioner unit and then left behind a mysterious black bag.

Watching the situation unfold, the restaurant owner sensed it was a crime in progress and immediately checked the hidden item. Inside the bag, a large bundle of cash was found.

The restaurant owner immediately called 112 to report it.

However, before the police arrived, a cash collector who had come by taxi appeared at the scene first. He loitered in the area, acting as if he were looking for something. Finding this suspicious, the owner, with the help of one restaurant customer and two soldiers, subdued the cash collector as he tried to flee.

Police officers who arrived at the scene arrested the cash collector in the act.

The police presented the restaurant owner with a letter of appreciation. The restaurant owner said, "I am very happy that we were able to return what seemed to be the grandmother's entire fortune," and added, "If such a situation happens again, I think I will be able to muster the courage once more."
