BAE Systems Surpasses 100,000 Deliveries of APKWS Guidance Kits

Conversion of 2.75-inch Unguided Rockets into Precision-Guided Munitions
Fielded by U.S. Forces and Supplied to Allies via FMS

BAE Systems announced that cumulative deliveries of its APKWS (Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System) guidance kits have surpassed 100,000 units.

BAE Systems Surpasses 100,000 Deliveries of APKWS Guidance Kits BAE Systems has achieved the supply of 100,000 APKWS® laser guidance kits to the United States and its allies, providing a low-cost, highly reliable precision-guided munitions capability. Provided by BAE Systems

The APKWS guidance kit converts a 2.75-inch (70 mm) unguided rocket into a precision-guided munition. It can be operated from rotary-wing and fixed-wing aircraft, unmanned aerial systems, ground platforms, and naval vessels, and is applicable to air-to-ground, surface-to-surface, surface-to-air, and air-to-air missions. It is designed to integrate with the motors, warheads, and fuzes of both existing and new rockets.

This system is being used in a variety of operations, including counter-unmanned aircraft system (C-UAS) missions. According to BAE Systems, APKWS has been in service for more than 10 years.

Nita Jayaraman, Director of Precision Guided Sensing Solutions at BAE Systems, said, "APKWS guidance kits have supported precision strike missions for many nations," adding, "Reaching 100,000 deliveries is an indicator of our capability for large-scale production and supply." She continued, "Based on new supply contracts, we plan to meet mission requirements going forward."

APKWS guidance kits are fielded with the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps, and U.S. allies can acquire them through Foreign Military Sales (FMS). Production takes place at facilities located in Hudson, New Hampshire, and Austin, Texas.
