Gyeongsan City (Mayor Cho Hyunil) held a public hearing at the Yeungnam University Cheonma Art Center on the 24th to draw up the draft of the “2040 Gyeongsan City Master Plan” and began gathering opinions from citizens and experts.
This draft plan is the highest-level statutory plan that sets the long-term development direction of Gyeongsan City for the next 20 years.
To respond to changes in the population structure, the city has put forward as its core strategy the strengthening of competitiveness in existing urban areas and the securing of self-sufficient functions centered on living zones, instead of the outward physical expansion pursued in the past.
Having reflected on-the-ground voices through citizen surveys and the operation of participatory groups, Gyeongsan City plans to additionally review the opinions presented at this public hearing and incorporate them into the plan.
Going forward, the city will listen to the views of the city council and seek advice from the Urban Planning Committee before obtaining final approval from North Gyeongsang Province.
Mayor Cho Hyunil of Gyeongsan City stressed, “The 2040 Gyeongsan City Master Plan is not simply about sketching the city’s appearance, but an important process of making responsible choices and designing the future for our next generation,” adding, “We will listen carefully to the diverse voices of citizens and establish a prudent and substantial plan.”
