Gyeongsan City Eliminates Safety Blind Spots at High-Risk Workplaces Through "Risk Assessment"

Final report meeting and practical training conducted in parallel... Establishing a field-oriented safety management system
Sharing department-specific tailored improvement measures and strengthening practical capabilities of over 200 workers

Gyeongsan City (Mayor Cho Hyun-il) has set out to become a city with "Zero Serious Accidents" by systematically managing risk factors at high-risk workplaces and strengthening the response capabilities of on-site practitioners.

On the 25th, the city held the "2026 Gyeongsan City High-Risk Workplace Risk Assessment Project Final Report Meeting" and the "High-Risk Workplace Risk Assessment Training" back-to-back in the city hall main conference room.

Gyeongsan City Eliminates Safety Blind Spots at High-Risk Workplaces Through "Risk Assessment" On the 25th, Gyeongsan City held the "2026 Gyeongsan City High-Risk Workplace Risk Assessment Service Final Report Meeting" and the "High-Risk Workplace Risk Assessment Training" consecutively in the city hall's large conference room. Provided by Gyeongsan City.

This event was organized not merely for a paper-based inspection, but to establish a practical and effective occupational safety and health management system that actually works at real work sites.

The final report meeting held in the morning was attended by the Vice Mayor, the Director of the Construction Safety Bureau, and heads of key high-risk project departments such as forestry, park green spaces, roads, and resource circulation.

Since the beginning of this year, the city has been conducting detailed on-site inspections of workplaces with a high likelihood of accidents, including construction machinery operations, confined space work, and chemical handling.

The meeting focused on discussing: ▲ analysis results of major harmful and hazardous factors by workplace ▲ improvement measures and standard risk assessment models ▲ safety management implementation plans by department. Gyeongsan City plans to refine the "Standard Risk Assessment Plan" by incorporating expert and on-site opinions drawn from the meeting and, based on this, fully launch a field-oriented safety management system.

In the afternoon, practical training on risk assessment was provided to about 200 public officials in charge and on-site workers.

The training was divided into the small-scale construction sector and the park and forestry work sector, and covered field-oriented topics such as: ▲ how to prepare risk assessments for small-scale construction projects ▲ procedures for identifying and improving on-site risk factors ▲ roles of supervisors and workers ▲ hands-on practice in preparing actual risk assessments. The lecture was delivered by instructor Lee Giwan, an industrial safety consultant and head of the safety management consulting firm W Safety Consulting, thereby enhancing practical applicability.

An official from Gyeongsan City stated, "For serious accidents, it is far more important to manage risk factors in advance than to respond after an accident occurs," adding, "Through this final report meeting and training, we will continue our efforts so that risk assessment can take root across the entire administration."

Gyeongsan City will continue to expand risk assessments, focusing on areas with high disaster risk such as contracted, outsourced, and commissioned projects, and will work to create a safe working environment for both citizens and workers by strengthening field-oriented safety management capabilities.
