Rescue teams and park staff who rushed to the scene rescued a 48-year-old Korean man, identified by the surname Lee, from the sea. He was transported to shore and then taken to a nearby hospital, but he was reportedly pronounced dead before arrival despite cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) efforts by medical staff.
A foreign national who said he witnessed the accident left a comment on a local news report, stating that foreign tourists on the beach and some park staff carried Lee out of the water and attempted CPR, but were ultimately unable to save him.
Police investigations found that Lee was visiting Thailand with his wife and child. At the time of the accident, he was reportedly swimming in the waters off the beach with his child.
An autopsy confirmed that the cause of death was drowning. His body is currently being kept at a hospital, and procedures are underway to repatriate him to Korea.
