Presiding over the 31st Sejong City Support Committee meeting at the Government Complex Sejong on this day, Prime Minister Kim said in his opening remarks, "If we strengthen the status of Sejong City as the administrative capital that encompasses both politics and administration, we will also be able to secure real momentum for the '5 Poles and 3 Special Zones' balanced growth strategy and the ultra-wide area linkage strategy." This was the first in-person meeting to be held since the launch of the Lee Jaemyung administration. The last in-person meeting was in December 2022.
Prime Minister Kim stated, "Through our state agenda, the government is presenting the direction of 'completing Sejong as the administrative capital,'" and added, "Along with reinforcing administrative functions by relocating key national functions, we are also striving to expand transportation networks, improve residential conditions, and establish a legal foundation to build the basis for the administrative capital."
He went on to say, "Today, we will focus our discussions on the institutional foundations and physical conditions that Sejong City needs in order to strengthen its role as the administrative capital," adding, "We will also discuss active government-level support measures for enacting a special act on the administrative capital and revising the Sejong City Act."
