1,000 Hours of Practical Training Across Four Key Fields Including AI, Games, and Webtoons
Seven-Month Intensive Program Accepting Applications Until March 27
Gwangju City is recruiting 100 trainees for the 3rd class of “GCC Sagwanhakgyo,” a practical training course in cultural content for which the city covers the full tuition and even provides allowances. This is a seven-month intensive program with a newly introduced generative artificial intelligence (AI)-based curriculum, and its core aim is to offer hands-on experience opportunities to young people preparing for employment in the content industry.
Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 25th that it will be accepting applications for the 3rd class of “GCC Sagwanhakgyo” trainees until March 27. Eligible applicants are unemployed young people nationwide between the ages of 18 and 39 who are interested in the content field. After document screening and interviews, the final list of successful candidates will be announced on April 3.
GCC Sagwanhakgyo is a cultural content talent development platform operated by Gwangju City, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Gwangju Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency. It is designed to cultivate work-ready content professionals through field-oriented training and company-linked programs. Competition has been on the rise, from 2.6 to 1 for the 1st class to 3 to 1 for the 2nd class. So far, 132 trainees from the 1st class and 106 from the 2nd class have completed the program.
The program will begin on April 13 and run for about seven months. A total of 1,000 hours of step-by-step practical training will be provided, focusing on four key areas: immersive content, games, animation, and webtoons. Company-linked team projects and on-the-job training (internship) programs will offer participants real-world industrial experience. Starting this year, the curriculum will incorporate generative AI technology into the content production process.
The training will take place at the Gwangju Immersive Content Cube and the Gwangju Cinema Center, and the tuition is entirely free. During the basic and advanced courses, trainees can receive up to 20,000 won per day as a training allowance, and during the team project period, they can receive up to 700,000 won per month as a practical training allowance. The program also includes special lectures by active professionals, one-on-one mentoring, job fairs, overseas training for outstanding trainees, and support programs for employment and entrepreneurship.
Applications can be submitted through the official GCC Sagwanhakgyo website, and inquiries can be directed to the GCC Sagwanhakgyo operations office.
