On-site operations and support for foreign visitors for ten days from April 24
Transportation allowance and free admission to the four main palaces
The Royal Palaces and Tombs Center of the National Heritage Administration and the National Heritage Promotion Institute announced on the 25th that they are recruiting “Gungidungi,” volunteer staff who will lead the “2026 Spring Royal Culture Festival.”
Marking its 12th anniversary this year, the festival will take place around the five major royal palaces in Seoul and Jongmyo Shrine. It drew 1.37 million visitors last year, breaking its all-time attendance record. This year, it will kick off on April 24 and welcome visitors for ten days until May 3.
Seventy Gungidungi volunteers will be active across the festival venues. They will directly assist visitors and take charge of event operations and promotion. They will also serve as cultural ambassadors, conveying the value of Korean traditions to foreign visitors.
Applications will be accepted until March 12. Anyone born in or before 2007 who can communicate in Korean, regardless of nationality, is eligible to apply. Successful applicants will be announced on March 27 after a document screening and video review.
The National Heritage Administration will provide uniforms and transportation expenses, along with free admission benefits to the four main palaces. After the program ends, it will issue certificates of completion and present commendations to outstanding participants.
