LIV Golf Expands Its Reach...This Time Into Gaming

Collaboration with Sony Group affiliate Beyond Sports
Launch of "LIV Golf Fantasy" and "LIV X"

LIV Golf, backed by Saudi Arabian oil capital, is expanding its business portfolio.


On the 25th, LIV Golf announced that it has partnered with Beyond Sports, a Sony Group affiliate, to launch the golf game "LIV Golf Fantasy" and the interactive digital platform "LIV X." Following its offline investments, the league has now begun investing in online initiatives as well.


The two innovative game platforms unveiled this time have been developed to provide golf fans around the world with a more immersive and engaging experience with players, teams, tournaments, and the entire season. This collaboration is Beyond Sports' first project as it expands its business into golf. The platforms are designed so that anyone can easily participate, taking into account a wide range of users.


The philosophy of LIV Golf, which aims to enable next-generation golf fans to experience golf in diverse ways both on and off the course, is reflected in these products. By combining competition among world-class players with entertainment and culture, the league is seeking to broaden the global base of the sport. LIV Golf expects that, through these digital experiences, fans will be able to enjoy a wider range of league and player-related content and become even more deeply engaged.

"LIV Golf Fantasy" is a season-long game. Users select four players to build their own team. Moving away from traditional scoring methods, it uses a hole-by-hole scoring system that delivers a high level of immersion on every shot. Users can join at any time, and results from a participant's best four events out of the first six tournaments of the LIV Golf season are counted. The platform offers a variety of support features such as expert picks, a fantasy caddie guide, and lineup alerts. A total of 15 prizes will be awarded over the course of the season. It is accessible via mobile devices and web browsers.


"LIV X" is a best-in-class fan engagement platform. Serving as LIV Golf's digital content hub, it allows fans not only to watch competitions but also to participate directly and earn rewards through a variety of games and features. Fans can engage with events through quizzes, daily games, tournament-by-tournament predictions, and voting. By playing, they can accumulate points and level up to receive a range of rewards, including early ticket access and professional swing analysis. It also provides exclusive content related to players and teams.


Dennis Taylor, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of LIV Golf, said, "The launch of LIV Golf Fantasy is an important step forward in expanding fan engagement through technology. It marks the beginning of a long-term effort to help golf fans experience a wide range of enjoyment."

These offerings will be available so that fans can participate directly in the run-up to HSBC LIV Golf Hong Kong, which will be held at Hong Kong Golf Club from March 5 to 8. Additional features for the LIV Golf Fantasy platform are currently under development and are scheduled to be released sequentially in the second half of the season.
