On the 25th, President Lee Jaemyung said, "I hope the legislation on the cancellation of treasury shares will be passed as soon as possible," adding, "There is a mountain of work to be done, including a law to prevent stock price suppression."
On this day, President Lee wrote this on his social networking service (SNS), while sharing an article titled "If coincidences continue, is it intentional? ... Ruling party abuzz over president being sidelined."
President Lee pointed out, "Most companies are accepting it, and both the public and shareholders welcome this kind of reform legislation, so it is hard to understand why some are engaging in extreme opposition, staying up all night. They may have their own reasons, but it is not easy to accept them," adding, "The days are short, and there is still a long way to go." This is interpreted as a criticism aimed at the People Power Party, which has launched a filibuster (unlimited debate) in opposition to the third amendment to the Commercial Act.
President Lee also refuted the article's claim that the ruling party is failing to support the Blue House, saying, "Excessive worries are called unfounded fears." He explained, "The party should do the party's work, and the presidential office should do its work well," and "The president has never been pushed to the sidelines, nor have I ever felt that way."
He went on to say, "Despite various obstacles, including the opposition party's extreme struggle, the Democratic Party is doing the job entrusted by the people as best as it can," adding, "There is absolutely no lack, either in pursuing reform legislation or in supporting the government."
He stressed, "As I always emphasize, what matters more than formality or ceremony are the outcomes and performance that the people can actually feel. The best way to support the administration is for the ruling party to do its job well."
