The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 24th that it had approved with amendments the district unit plan for the KBS Sports World site and the detailed development plan for the special planning zone.
The key elements include converting private sports facilities into public sports facilities, providing an up-to-date cultural complex space, and improving the pedestrian environment.
The city stated that, through this plan, an integrated urban management system that harmonizes with the surrounding area will be established, which is expected to help increase housing supply and revitalize the local area.
The KBS Sports World site, located in Hwagok-dong, Gangseo-gu, has an area of 29,098 square meters. The landowner proposed to the Seoul Metropolitan Government a mutually beneficial housing development plan that would designate the land as a special planning zone and build multi-family housing and officetels.
According to the plan, the land, which is currently classified as a Type 2 general residential area, will be upgraded to a quasi-residential area, and a total of 1,147 units will be built, including 844 multi-family housing units and 303 officetel units. Of these, 294 units are planned as rental housing. Instead of retaining the existing everyday sports facilities, the project operator will create a community culture center, sports facilities, and a childcare support center as a public contribution.
Going forward, the Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to issue a public notice for residents to re-inspect the plan and then finalize and promulgate the district unit plan and the detailed development plan for the special planning zone for the KBS Sports World site.
