Motel Serial Murders by Woman in Her 20s...Boyfriend May Have Been Her "Drug Experiment Target"

Testing the tool's effects before commencing full-scale crimes
"Various drugs found during police search and seizure"

There is an analysis that the crimes committed by A, a woman in her 20s who shocked the public by killing two men in succession at a motel in Gangbuk, Seoul, may have had an "experimental" nature. The claim is that, before carrying out the full-scale crimes, she went through a process of checking the effectiveness of her murder weapon.

On the 24th, during an interview on the CBS Radio program "Park Sungtae's News Show," Oh Yoonseong, a professor in the Department of Police Administration at Soonchunhyang University, stated that she had "experimented with the (murder weapon) on her boyfriend." His analysis is that after realizing that "once the drug was administered, the victim could not move for about four hours," she then proceeded to commit the actual murders.

Motel Serial Murders by Woman in Her 20s...Boyfriend May Have Been Her "Drug Experiment Target" A, a woman in her 20s accused of killing two men at a motel in Suyu-dong, Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, appeared at the Seoul Northern District Court on the 12th for a detention warrant hearing. Yonhap News

Earlier, A, a woman in her 20s and the suspect in the Gangbuk-gu motel serial murder case, was placed under arrest and handed over to the prosecution on the 19th on charges of causing the death or injury of three men in their 20s by giving them drinks laced with psychotropic medication. Her first target, her boyfriend B, was taken to a hospital and recovered. After that, A went on to carry out a second and third crime against other victims. All of the other victims died.

Professor Oh explained, "After the first crime, she sent out messages and then committed the crimes against the men who were drawn in by them," adding that "(for her, the male victims) were better prey."

Regarding A's motive for the third crime, Professor Oh said, "Since the police had already identified her as a suspect, it is possible that she decided to commit crimes against as many additional victims as she could," and speculated that "it was an extreme and bizarre manifestation of a desire to manipulate and control human relationships." Citing the facts that A dropped out of middle school and was later expelled from high school, and that people around her testified that "she had a habit of stealing" and "she sowed discord among people around her," he stated his view that "one can suspect the possibility of a kind of impulse control disorder."

Professor Oh also speculated, "Judging from the various drugs seized during the police search and seizure, she may have been preparing for further crimes."

Meanwhile, A is currently under investigation by the prosecution on charges including murder, aggravated bodily injury, and violation of the Narcotics Control Act (psychotropic substances).
