Securing Future Growth Engines for Local Companies
Focusing on a Structured Growth Support System
Gumi City in North Gyeongsang Province and the Gumi Electronics & Information Technology Research Institute (hereinafter GERI) announced that they held the “2026 Gumi City Business Support Program Briefing” on the 24th at the multipurpose hall on the second floor of the GERI main building, with around 200 entrepreneurs from local start-ups, small and medium-sized enterprises, and mid-sized companies in attendance.
This briefing was organized to present the direction of support for companies in the Gumi area this year, to provide guidance on the key details and participation methods for each support program, and to conduct one-on-one consultations with individual companies.
This year, 13 business support programs for local companies are scheduled to be implemented. Gumi plans to fully launch multi-layered support tailored to each corporate growth stage, from start-up to small, mid-tier, and leading companies, to intensively support technology-based firms with outstanding future value, promote growth-customized solution support, and at the same time implement a comprehensive package of corporate support programs that include strengthening corporate capabilities such as the use of research equipment and human resource development.
First, in the corporate support area, based on customized support for each growth stage from small to mid-tier to leading companies, Gumi will actively provide information on central government projects and consulting to help secure such projects in order to secure future growth engines, while also promoting close support for market development and resolving growth-related difficulties.
Next, in the start-up support area, Gumi will identify start-ups with high future growth potential and systematically support their growth from the early start-up stage through to global expansion, so that start-ups can commercialize their innovative technologies at an early stage and advance into global markets.
In particular, to promote youth employment and provide opportunities for young people to settle in the region, Gumi will operate the “Gumi Youth Settlement Internship Support Program.” In addition, to enhance the competitiveness of women-owned businesses, Gumi will establish and operate a dedicated women-owned business support track within the pinpoint support of the “SME Total Solution Support Program.”
GERI President Moon Chuyon emphasized, “GERI will not stop at providing simple support. By actively operating the ‘GERI Pacemaker’ and the ‘Industry-Academia Cooperation Technology Sharing Platform (GTX),’ we will continue to expand our role as a partner to local companies and support their growth.”
Some of Gumi City’s business support programs have already been announced, and additional notices will be posted sequentially from the end of February through mid-March.
