Shinhan Financial Launches Shinhan Financial Hub Jeonbuk Innovation City, Expands Workforce to 300

Shinhan Financial Group announced that on the 24th it launched "Shinhan Financial Hub Jeonbuk Innovation City" at the Shinhan Fund Partners Jeonju NPS Headquarters in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province, to build a capital-market and asset-management-focused financial ecosystem.

The launch ceremony was attended by Jin Okdong, Chairman of Shinhan Financial Group; Jung Sanghyuk, President of Shinhan Bank; Lee Seonhun, President of Shinhan Investment Corp.; Lee Seokwon, President of Shinhan Asset Management; Kim Jeongnam, President of Shinhan Fund Partners; as well as Kim Sungju, Chairman of the National Pension Service; Kim Jonghun, Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs of North Jeolla Province; and Woo Beomgi, Mayor of Jeonju.


The core objective of Shinhan Financial Hub Jeonbuk Innovation City is to systematically operate by concentrating in Jeonbuk the key capital-market and asset-management functions, so that collaborative projects with the National Pension Service can be promoted more swiftly. The group plans to foster Jeonbuk Innovation City as a specialized financial hub for pension-linked asset management, while at the same time realizing productive finance.


In particular, Shinhan Asset Management became the first full-service asset management company in Korea to open an office in Jeonju. To create jobs for young people and revitalize the local economy, it is also carrying out internship recruitment for local university students and job seekers.


Shinhan Financial Group plans to gradually increase the number of employees working in the Jeonju area across banking, securities, asset management, and fund partners from the current level of around 130 to approximately 300, and to nurture the hub as a key base for the capital market by concentrating the group’s capabilities there in the future.


Chairman Jin said, "Today’s launch ceremony is a valuable first step toward building a financial hub specialized in the capital market and asset management," adding, "Jeonbuk Innovation City is a place where the capital-market value chain is concentrated around the National Pension Service, and Shinhan Financial Group will provide active support so that our employees can enjoy happiness in their daily lives while contributing to productive finance and the development of the local economy."
