Gyeongbuk Provincial Councilor Lee Sunhee Receives Commendation from Chairman of Korea Federation of SMEs: "Those Who Take On Challenges Deserve Fair Opportunities"

On February 24, Gyeongbuk Provincial Councilor Lee Sunhee of the People Power Party, representing Cheongdo, received a commendation from the Chairman of the Korea Federation of SMEs. This commendation was awarded in recognition of her legislative work that has been highly valued for connecting voices from the front lines of the local economy to policies and institutional frameworks.

As a second-term councilor, Chairperson Lee has led the Planning and Economy Committee in the latter half of the 12th Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Council, steadily laying the institutional foundation for attracting corporate investment and promoting balanced regional development. In particular, she has worked to institutionalize a region-led industrial ecosystem by fostering local creators and revitalizing platforms for solving local issues, while also striving to create conditions in which young people, small business owners, and small and medium-sized enterprises can grow independently.

Above all, what stands out is the "change felt on the ground." Through a recent five-minute free speech, Chairperson Lee has been continuously reviewing contract structures and consignment project practices that are skewed toward the Seoul metropolitan area and major metropolitan cities, and has clearly presented directions for improvement aimed at lowering barriers to market access and contract participation so that local companies can compete on fair terms. This is interpreted as an expression of her determination not only to expand short-term support, but also to reform the overall structure of public contracts so that local companies can build their own competitiveness.

Chairperson Lee has consistently pursued the creation of a business-friendly institutional environment, the transition to a decentralized regional economic structure, and the establishment of a Gyeongbuk-style model for revitalizing the livelihood economy. Building on this award, she plans to further strengthen her role as a bridge between the realities of the local economy and the institutional system.

Chairperson Lee Sunhee said, "I believe this commendation is less a personal achievement and more an encouragement for the efforts to translate into policy the voices of small and medium-sized businesspeople and small business owners who quietly toil on the front lines," adding, "I will continue to do my utmost to create an environment in which those who take on challenges in our region receive fair opportunities and their sincere efforts are justly recognized."
