Michelle Wie Joins Virtual Reality Golf League WTGL

Competing in a new-concept indoor golf league in the 2026-2027 season

'Mom golfer' Michelle Wie West (United States) will compete in the virtual reality golf league WTGL.


TMRW Sports announced on the 23rd (local time), "Wie West has agreed to join WTGL, which will launch for the 2026-2027 season." Led by Tiger Woods (United States) and Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland, United Kingdom), TMRW Sports has been operating the virtual reality golf league TGL since last season, featuring players from the PGA Tour.

TGL is based on screen golf, with putting and other short-game shots played in an indoor golf setting. WTGL, which will feature women golfers, is scheduled to launch in the 2026-2027 season. In addition to Wie West, players who have so far committed to compete in WTGL include Atthaya Thitikul (Thailand), Charley Hull (England), Lottie Woad (England), Lydia Ko (New Zealand), Brooke Henderson (Canada), Rose Zhang (United States), and Lexi Thompson (United States).


Wie West is a Korean American golfer. She has recorded a total of 5 victories on the LPGA Tour. In particular, she captured the title at the major championship U.S. Women's Open in 2014. She retired from competitive golf in 2023. In 2019, she married Jonnie West, son of Jerry West, who is regarded as an NBA legend. They have one daughter and one son.
