Lunit Begins Direct Sales in Japan...Continues Partnership with Fujifilm

Building a Business Hub for the Asia-Pacific Region

Lunit, a medical artificial intelligence (AI) company, announced on February 24 that it has begun direct sales in the Japanese market.

Until now, Lunit has been selling in the Japanese market through its partnership with Fujifilm, but the company has now established a direct sales structure and plans to provide localized marketing and solutions. Lunit had established its Japanese subsidiary, "Lunit Japan," in May last year.

Lunit's direct sales will operate in a structure that complements Fujifilm's sales channels. In the local hospital market, the company will maintain its existing partnership-based sales strategy, while in the health screening and teleradiology markets, where there is strong demand for AI adoption, Lunit will directly identify customers and handle sales.

Lunit Japan plans to strengthen collaboration with its Japanese partners and, based on insights accumulated at customer touchpoints, expand globally validated solutions with strategies tailored to the Japanese market, growing into a business hub for the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.

Japan, meanwhile, is considered a market highly compatible with Lunit's AI solutions, due to increasing demand for screenings driven by an aging population, a chronic shortage of medical personnel, and a high reliance on chest X-rays. Lunit Japan will focus on establishing its local business foundation this year and plans to expand its organization starting in 2027.

Seo Beomseok, CEO of Lunit, said, "The launch of direct sales is a starting point for gaining a deeper understanding of the Japanese market and establishing a localized strategy," adding, "By building on the trust we have accumulated with Fujifilm over many years, we are starting direct sales while moving in a direction that further strengthens our partnership."
