Korean Empathy Phrase "Spring Edition"

Phrase Proposed by Jeon Jinhyuk Selected

Changwon Special City in South Gyeongsang Province announced on the 24th that it has selected the phrase by Jeon Jinhyuk, a resident of Seongsan-gu, "This spring is truly warm because of you," as the winning entry for the spring edition of its Korean empathy phrase campaign to be shared with citizens through various promotional media.

The phrase on the electronic signboard at Changwon Special City Hall reads, "Because of you, this spring is truly warm."

The contest, held from January 23 to February 4, drew participation from 80 citizens. In line with the rule of one entry per person, 70 original phrases and 10 quoted phrases were submitted. On the 6th, the city convened the Changwon City Newsletter Editorial Committee and selected the winning spring entry.

Explaining the background of his phrase, Jeon said, "I wanted to convey a sense of gratitude and solidarity that each and every citizen helps create the spring of Changwon."

In addition to Jeon's phrase, the entries by Lee Byungdo of Uichang-gu, "Let's start spring! A spring where every path is lined with flowers for everyone!", and by Ha Yongjo of Jinhae-gu, "Changwon embraces hope, and spring gives birth to hope," also received positive reviews.

The city will feature Jeon's winning phrase in the Changwon City Newsletter to be published on the 25th, and will also promote it through large electronic billboards installed at City Hall and in Yangdeok-dong, as well as on 78 electronic government promotion boards (DID) located in multi-use facilities, through the end of May.

Going forward, the city plans to continue selecting Korean empathy phrases that match each season to deliver messages of comfort and hope to citizens. This year's contest for the summer edition phrases is scheduled to be held in April.
