First change since its founding in 1997
Brand alignment with subsidiaries and affiliates
Dividend and outside director agenda items also on the table
NCSoft is changing its corporate name for the first time since its founding in 1997.
According to the game industry on February 24, NCSoft announced a notice convening a general shareholders' meeting the previous day, which includes an agenda item to change its corporate name to "NC."
NCSoft was founded in 1997 by CEO Kim Taekjin, with the name embodying the meaning of "Next Company." The latest name change is seen as a move taken in consideration of brand consistency with related entities such as the NC Cultural Foundation, a public-interest corporation, its subsidiaries NC AI, NC QA, NC IDS, and overseas entities NC America, NC West, and NC Japan. NCSoft has long used the name "NC" in its corporate abbreviation and logo.
NCSoft's general shareholders' meeting will be held on March 26 at its headquarters in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province. At the meeting, agenda items such as the approval of a cash dividend of 1,150 won per share, and amendments to the articles of incorporation reflecting the corporate name change and revisions to the Commercial Act are scheduled to be discussed. Proposals have also been submitted to reappoint Choi Jaechun, Emeritus Professor at Ewha Womans University, and Lee Eunhwa, Head of RGA Korea, as outside directors, and to newly appoint Oh Seunghoon, CEO of Insight Group, as an outside director.
