Seventh President Elected... Three-Year Term Until February 2029
The Korea Insurance Research Institute announced on the 24th that it has appointed Kim Heonsoo, a professor at Soonchunhyang University, as its seventh president.
Professor Kim, who was elected as the new president at the general meeting of members of the Korea Insurance Research Institute held that day, will serve a three-year term from March 1 next month until February 28, 2029.
President Kim graduated from the Department of Business Administration at Pusan National University and obtained a Master of Science degree in Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) and a Ph.D. in Business Administration with a concentration in insurance from Georgia State University in the United States.
He has served as a professor in the Department of Information Technology (IT) Finance at Soonchunhyang University, where he also held positions as Dean of the College of Global Business and Chair of the Department of Finance and Insurance.
He has served as President of the Korean Insurance Academic Society, President of the Korean Risk Management Society, and President of the Asia-Pacific Risk and Insurance Association.
Since the launch of the Lee Jaemyung administration last year, he has worked as an advisor to the First Economic Subcommittee of the Presidential Commission on National Agenda.
He has also served as Chair of the Insurance Subcommittee of the Financial Supervisory Advisory Committee at the Financial Supervisory Service, as an ombudsman committee member, and as Chair of the Task Force (TF) on Supervisory Innovation in the Insurance Industry.
