One-stop Support from Certification to Employment
Woongjin Free Life announced on the 24th that it has officially opened the "Funeral Director Training Center" to foster professional funeral service personnel.
The opening of this training center is intended to establish a system that provides one-stop support, ranging from obtaining the national funeral director certification to job placement at mutual aid companies and partner funeral halls. The company plans to enhance public awareness of funeral directors, build a solid educational foundation, and present a new vision for funeral service as a professional occupation.
Woongjin Free Life held an opening ceremony on the 23rd at the main auditorium of the training center located in Paju, Gyeonggi Province. About 100 people attended the event, including 30 first-cohort trainees, 50 ceremonial directors, 20 executives and employees of Woongjin Group and Woongjin Free Life, and the secretary general of the Korea Mutual Aid Industry Association.

The first-term program will run for about nine weeks from the end of February to mid-April and will be operated as a standard 300-hour curriculum, consisting of 150 hours of theory, 100 hours of practical training, and 50 hours of on-site practice.
Along with operating the training center, Woongjin Free Life plans to strengthen the quality of on-site services on an ongoing basis by implementing a quarterly award system for ceremonial directors.
Yoon Seokgeum, chairman of Woongjin Group, said, "I congratulate all of you in the first cohort who have been selected through fierce competition on your challenge," adding, "Your love for your work, positive attitude, and constant desire to learn will complete your value as funeral directors."
Moon Hosang, CEO of Woongjin Free Life, said, "Ceremonial directors are directors who oversee the entire funeral process and are specialized roles that cannot be replaced even in the era of artificial intelligence (AI)," and added, "I hope you will grow into professionals who share the most noble moments based on a humanitarian spirit that respects life and death."
