Dongsuh Foods Uses Recycled Aseptic Carton Paper for "Maxim" Coffee Mix Packaging

Applied to "Maxim Supreme Gold"
Reducing Annual Waste by About 43 Tons

Dongsuh Foods announced on the 24th that it will use recycled paper made from aseptic cartons for the packaging of its Maxim Supreme Gold coffee mix to strengthen resource circulation.

Aseptic cartons are mainly used for packaging soy milk and juice, and are made of composite materials such as paper, aluminum, and polyethylene. Because separating these layers is difficult, their recycling rate has been low and most of them have been discarded.

Dongsuh Foods has separated the aluminum layer from the aseptic cartons and applied only the recyclable paper to the packaging of Maxim Supreme Gold. The company expects that, through this initiative, approximately 43 tons of aseptic cartons will be recycled annually, improving resource efficiency.

The recycled paper used for Maxim Supreme Gold is a packaging material that has obtained GR (Good Recycled) certification. GR certification is a government system that officially certifies the quality and eco-friendliness of recycled products.

Meanwhile, Dongsuh Foods is expanding the use of eco-friendly packaging for a sustainable future. Last year, it reduced the amount of ink and organic solvents used in Maxim coffee mix sticks. In 2023, it applied packaging certified with Green Technology to Maxim coffee mix, Maxim instant coffee refills, and cereal products. Since 2021, it has been using paper handles on large-size Maxim coffee mix products to reduce plastic usage.

A Dongsuh Foods official said, "Introducing recycled paper made from aseptic cartons for Maxim Supreme Gold coffee mix is part of our efforts to contribute to resource circulation," adding, "We will continue to roll out eco-friendly packaging so that consumers can participate in value-based consumption."
