Led Americas subsidiary for 4 years
Established alternative investment fund management system
Hanwha Asset Management announced on the 24th that it has appointed Vice President Im Dongjun as Head of the Strategic Business Unit, after he successfully led alternative investment businesses in advanced financial markets such as the United States.
Vice President Im is an investment expert who has built venture and alternative investment platforms in the U.S. market, established funds, and laid a systematic foundation for asset management. In particular, he has generated meaningful results by making preemptive investments in global innovative companies in the artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced technology sectors.

Through venture funds managed by the Americas subsidiary, Vice President Im has achieved strong performance by making early-stage investments not only in leading global AI companies such as Groq, OpenAI, xAI, Mistral AI, and Thrive Holdings, which was recently acquired by Nvidia, but also in deep-tech startups in the defense, energy, and robotics sectors, including Shield AI, Radiant Nuclear, Impulse Space, and 1X.
By doing so, he secured the company’s competitiveness as an asset manager at an early stage and laid the groundwork for strengthening its global deal network and investment accessibility.
In addition, Vice President Im has a deep understanding of the overall financial industry based on his experience in insurance, asset management, and various other financial affiliates. He has accumulated experience that spans all aspects of financial company management, including investment decision-making, establishing risk management frameworks, enhancing internal controls, and setting strategy.
Hanwha Asset Management plans to use this appointment to strengthen its capabilities in generating performance in the alternative investment segment, while at the same time pursuing a balanced growth strategy that combines stable risk management with the expansion of a long-term earnings base.
A Hanwha Asset Management representative said, “Vice President Im is a figure who possesses both global investment experience and financial management capabilities, and we expect him to play a key role in enhancing the competitiveness of our alternative investment business and establishing a sound growth framework,” adding, “We will introduce quality deals to domestic and overseas institutional investors and HNWI (high-net-worth individual) clients, and contribute to advancing Korea’s capital market.”
