Dongjak-gu to Present Integrated Redevelopment Master Plan for Sangdo-dong and Sadang-dong on 24th

Addressing Concerns Over Uncoordinated Piecemeal Development...
Residents' Briefing Session to Be Held at the District Office

Dongjak-gu in Seoul (District Mayor Park Ilha) is launching the establishment of a basic plan for an “integrated redevelopment development” in order to efficiently link various types of development projects currently being promoted in the Sangdo-dong and Sadang-dong areas.

The integrated development is an urban planning master plan that maintains the independence and profitability of the redevelopment projects for each target site, while organically connecting the layout of infrastructure, road network systems, and site level plans, so that the entire area functions as a single living zone that goes beyond individual project sites.

In some parts of Sangdo-dong and Sadang-dong, projects have been promoted individually without an integrated plan, raising concerns about a decline in urban functions due to duplicated installation of infrastructure and insufficient road connectivity. In addition, because the area is characterized by hilly terrain with many slopes, the roads are narrow and convenience facilities are lacking, and residents have continuously called for improvements to their living conditions.

The current draft plan is expected to include measures to establish an efficient circulation system by improving the hilly terrain conditions, as well as plans to create leveled pedestrian spaces that overcome the level differences between complexes.

To complete the basic plan for the Sangdo-dong integrated development and share the development direction and bird's-eye view with residents, the district will hold a residents' briefing session at 6:30 p.m. on the 4th floor grand auditorium of the district office on the 24th. In addition, it plans to hold a policy forum in March to broadly discuss the direction of integrated development across the district, including Sadang-dong.

Park Ilha, Mayor of Dongjak-gu, said, “Through the integrated redevelopment development, the Sangdo-dong and Sadang-dong areas will be further upgraded,” adding, “We will do our utmost to rapidly transform the map of the entire Dongjak-gu so that it can leap forward as ‘K-City Dongjak,’ a district that attracts global attention.”
