President Lee Jaemyung appointed the assistant special prosecutors for the second comprehensive special investigation on the 23rd.


Blue House spokesperson Kang Yujeong announced to the press corps that day, "President Lee appointed Kwon Youngbin (31st class of the Judicial Research and Training Institute), Kim Jeongmin (15th class of military judge advocate), Kim Jimi (37th class of the Judicial Research and Training Institute), and Jin Euljong (37th class of the Judicial Research and Training Institute) as assistant special prosecutors from among the candidates for assistant special prosecutors for the second comprehensive special investigation requested by Special Prosecutor Kwon Changyoung."


The second comprehensive special investigation will reinvestigate the three major special probe cases, namely the insurrection case, the Kim Keonhee case, and the Chae Haebyeong case, focusing on the parts that were insufficiently investigated and on new suspicions. The basic investigation period is 90 days. It can then be extended twice, by 30 days each time. Including a 20-day preparation period, the investigation can last for up to 170 days.


Earlier, President Lee designated attorney Kwon Changyoung of law firm Jipyung as the special prosecutor to lead the second comprehensive special investigation.
