Former Hoka Distributor CEO Who Assaulted Subcontractor Sent to Prosecution Without Detention

Handed over to the prosecution last week on charges of bodily injury

The former head of the domestic distributor for the sneaker brand Hoka, who assaulted the CEO and an employee of a subcontractor, has been handed over to the prosecution without being detained.

On the 23rd, the Seongdong Police Station in Seoul announced that it had sent former Joyworks&Co CEO Cho Sunghwan to the prosecution last week without detention on charges of causing bodily injury.

Cho is accused of summoning the CEO and an employee of a subcontractor to an abandoned church building in Seongsu-dong, Seongdong-gu, last December and assaulting them.

As news of the incident became public and consumers began to move toward a boycott, Cho issued an apology and resigned on the 7th of last month.

However, the social controversy did not subside despite his public apology. Hoka's U.S. headquarters also terminated its distribution contract with Joyworks&Co.
