Reflecting Experience as Both Teacher and Administrator, Grounded in a "Field-Centered Educational Philosophy"
1:00 p.m. on the 28th, 3rd-Floor Multipurpose Auditorium, Areum-dong Complex Community Center
Preliminary candidate for Superintendent of Education in Sejong City, Ahn Gwangsik, will hold a publication celebration and book concert for his book "I Stand with Children Again Today" at 1:00 p.m. on the 28th at the Areum-dong Complex Community Center in Sejong City. Prior to the main event, from 12:00 noon there will be a signing session and time for communication with the author.
This book is an educational essay in which the author, who began his career as a teacher and has accumulated broad experience in educational administration and policy, reflectively unpacks the essence and direction of public education. The book contains cases encountered in classrooms and in the administrative field, along with a consistent educational philosophy that "children must be the standard for judgment."
In particular, it emphasizes the public nature and accountability of public education, as well as the importance of a fair educational system amid a changing educational environment, and raises critical questions about the direction in which local education should move forward. It is drawing attention as an attempt not merely to look back, but to expand the discourse on education.
The publication celebration will proceed in the order of introductions of distinguished guests, congratulatory remarks, and greetings from the author, and meetings with attendees are expected to continue even after the event. Participation is expected from a wide range of people, including figures from the local education community, parents, and citizens.
Author Ahn Gwangsik stated, "This book is both a record that organizes the questions I have wrestled with in the field over the years, and a proposal for the standards of education that we must think about together going forward," adding, "For education to restore trust and prepare for the future, clear principles and responsible leadership are essential."
Meanwhile, within and outside the education community, this publication is heightening interest in Ahn's future public role and educational leadership. Expectations are growing that this publication celebration will serve as a valuable opportunity to advance the local educational discourse to the next level.
