Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City is launching an urban culture and arts festival, "Urban Rak (樂)," in earnest to broaden the activity base of local arts organizations and expand citizens' opportunities to enjoy culture.

From April to October this year, Seo-gu will present everyday cultural and artistic performances under four themes: Spring (Excitement Rak), Summer (Passion Rak), Autumn (Sentiment Rak), and the Traveling Apartment Mini Concert (Together Rak). The performances will be held in parks, plazas, and other places frequently visited by residents, and are planned to infuse cultural vitality into various parts of the city by reflecting the characteristics of each season.

In particular, the "Traveling Apartment Mini Concert" will visit apartment complexes directly and provide performances tailored to each complex's characteristics, thereby enhancing cultural accessibility within residents' living areas. Detailed information, including the performance schedule, can be found on the Seo-gu Office culture and tourism website.

Seo-gu will recruit 40 performance teams with cultural and artistic capabilities that are active mainly in Gwangju Metropolitan City. Among them, it will select at least 20% youth and young adult teams and include at least one team of artists with disabilities, thereby creating an inclusive cultural environment in which diverse groups can participate.

Seo-gu plans to select teams from a wide range of genres, including popular music, Western music, Korean traditional music, dance, magic, and multidisciplinary arts, through document screening and performance video review. Performance teams will receive performance compensation at different levels according to their evaluation scores.

The recruitment period runs until the 27th, and teams wishing to participate should prepare the required documents listed in the public notice section of the Seo-gu Office website and apply either by visiting the Seo-gu Office Culture and Arts Division or by email.
