Paek Taeyeol from Tanggok Village, Heungsan 1-ri, Daega-myeon, Seongju-gun, North Gyeongsang Province, who is a great-grandson of March 1st Movement independence activist Paek Seongheum, donated 1.07 million won to be delivered to needy neighbors in the community to mark the 107th anniversary of the March 1st Independence Movement.
Paek Taeyeol, a descendant (great-grandson) of March 1st Movement independence activist Paek Seongheum, donated KRW 1,070,000 to be distributed to local neighbors in need on the occasion of the 107th anniversary of the March 1st Movement. Provided by Seongju County Office.
Paek Taeyeol said, "As a descendant, I wanted to do something meaningful by carrying on the will of my great-grandfather, who sacrificed himself for the independence of our country. I will remember the sacrifices of the independence activists and live a life that contributes to society," expressing his intention behind the donation.
Kim Jingui, head of Daega-myeon, said, "I would like to express my deep gratitude to the independence fighters who devoted themselves to the independence of the Republic of Korea on March 1st, and to Paek Taeyeol, who has practiced giving every year without forgetting the sacrifices and dedication of his ancestors," and added, "We will reflect on our history and the spirit of independence, and we will make sure that the donated funds are delivered to where they are most needed," conveying his thanks.
