Yesan County in South Chungcheong Province, which is struggling with population decline, will provide childbirth and childrearing benefits worth 41 million won to households where a seventh child is born.

According to the county on the 23rd, the parents of the seventh child are a couple, Min Taehoon (41) and Ahn Eunyeong (42), who live in Sapgyo-eup. The couple welcomed a 3.5 kg baby boy on the 20th.

The couple, who run a business in the area, are known as an exemplary family that, while raising many children, have consistently taken part in various volunteer activities, including serving in the Sapgyo-eup voluntary crime-prevention unit.

To support a healthy childbirth for the family, the county provided systematic health care through the public health center from the early stages of pregnancy. After the birth, it has offered childbirth and childcare subsidies, a childbirth congratulatory basket, and support for maternal and newborn health management. It is also covering transportation costs for prenatal medical visits and postpartum care expenses.

The county explained that the total amount of support from pregnancy through childbirth and childrearing comes to about 41 million won. In addition, the county is also providing medical expense support in parallel to help the couple’s sixth child, who is currently undergoing hospital treatment, recover quickly.

An official at the county public health center said, "In an era of low birth rates, a multi-child family that has given birth to a seventh child serves as a great role model for our society," adding, "We will continue providing thorough support to make Yesan a place where it is good to have and raise children."
