On the same day, the U.S. Embassy in Korea also stated on X (formerly Twitter), "He plans to meet with Korean counterparts to further strengthen the ironclad ROK-U.S. alliance and advance our shared commitment to prosperity and security in the Indo-Pacific region."
According to diplomatic sources, Adviser Needham is said to have had a breakfast meeting with Foreign Minister Cho Hyun and also met with Vice Minister Chung Euihye on that day. It appears that they met to discuss the implementation of the wording of the Joint Fact Sheet (JFS), as well as to urge faster progress on Korea's investment package for the United States.
Adviser Needham served as chief of staff to Secretary Rubio when Rubio was a U.S. senator, and has continued to serve as his chief of staff after Rubio became secretary, and is known as a close aide.
