Jeonnam Province and Yeosu City Jointly Inspect Main Venue of Island Expo

From Project Management to Safety Measures
All-Out Efforts for Flawless Event Preparation

Yeosu City in South Jeolla Province announced that on the 20th, Deputy Mayor Jeong Hyeonggu, Vice Governor Hwang Giyeon of Jeollanam-do, and other officials visited Dolsan Jinmo District, the main venue for the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo, to inspect construction progress and review overall preparations for the successful hosting of the expo.

This inspection was arranged to review the progress of major construction stages for the venue, and to comprehensively check safety management measures and the establishment of an operational foundation in preparation for a large influx of visitors.

On site, the officials focused on inspecting the status of land preparation for the main venue, plans for arranging exhibition and experience facilities, traffic and parking measures, visitor flow and safety management plans, and the schedule for building infrastructure.

Vice Governor Hwang Giyeon said, "The 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo is an international event that will showcase Jeonnam's island policies and the future of marine tourism to the world," and requested, "Please place top priority on safety and completeness in preparing for the event and ensure that everything proceeds without a hitch."

Deputy Mayor Jeong Hyeonggu stated, "We are systematically preparing all areas, from the construction of the venue and infrastructure to the expansion of transportation, accommodation, and convenience facilities, in close cooperation with Jeollanam-do Province and the organizing committee," and added, "We will do our utmost to make this a successful island expo that can satisfy both citizens and visitors."

Meanwhile, the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo, under the theme "Islands, Connecting the Sea and the Future," will be held from September 5 to November 4, 2026, in Dolsan Jinmo District, as well as around Gaedo, Geomundo, and the Yeosu World Expo site.
