HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Delivers Philippine Offshore Patrol Vessel 5 Months Early

First of Six "Raja Sulaiman" Vessels
Early Delivery Demonstrates Competitive Edge
Optimized Design Tailored to Operational Environments

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries announced on February 23 that it had delivered the first Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) to the Philippine Navy ahead of schedule.

The vessel, Raja Sulaiman (RAJAH SULAYMAN), is one of six Offshore Patrol Vessels recently ordered by the Philippine Navy and was handed over five months earlier than the original delivery schedule.

The Offshore Patrol Vessel delivered this time is not only equipped with an anti-submarine acoustic detector, but is also designed with internal space for operating various mission modules so that it can be deployed in a wide range of operational environments, including maritime surveillance, maritime security missions, and military operations.

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries assessed that, by supplying a state-of-the-art naval vessel on a significantly shortened schedule, it has contributed to the early force deployment of the Philippine Navy. In naval shipbuilding projects, delivery schedules are directly linked to naval force deployment and also affect the maintenance of national defense capabilities, and are therefore regarded as a key factor in evaluating a shipbuilder's capabilities.

In addition, prior to the delivery of the vessel, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, with the cooperation of the Republic of Korea Navy, provided a pre-delivery training program to ensure that the Philippine Navy could operate the ship stably from the moment it was handed over.

A representative of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries said, "By delivering the Philippine Navy's Offshore Patrol Vessel ahead of schedule, we have demonstrated both the reliability of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and our competitiveness in meeting delivery deadlines," adding, "We will continue to contribute to the modernization of the Philippine Navy and the stable operation of its forces through the construction and delivery of follow-on vessels."

Meanwhile, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has been participating in the Philippine Navy's modernization program since 2016 and has won orders for a total of 12 vessels, including frigates and Offshore Patrol Vessels. Starting with the first frigate, Jose Rizal, which was delivered one month ahead of schedule, the company has so far delivered five vessels earlier than the contracted delivery dates, supporting the Philippine Navy in strengthening its naval fleet.
