Namyangju City Holds 2026 Taekwondo Demonstration Team Orientation
Appointed as "Honorary Public Relations Ambassadors"... A Powerful Leap Forward in 2026
Namyangju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 23rd that it held the "2026 Namyangju City Taekwondo Association Taekwondo Demonstration Team Orientation" at the indoor gymnasium of the Namyangju Sports and Culture Center on the 22nd and appointed the Taekwondo Demonstration Team as honorary public relations ambassadors for the city.

The event was organized to share the direction for operating the demonstration team in 2026 and its annual training plan, and to enhance the members' sense of belonging and pride. It aimed to establish a systematic operational foundation for the team and to strengthen local promotional activities through Taekwondo.
The event was attended by Joo Gwangdeok, mayor of Namyangju City, Han Geunsoo, chair of the City Council's Autonomy and Administration Committee, City Council member Son Jeongja, Hwang Jeongri, president of the World Martial Arts Union, Yoon Seonghyeon, president of the Namyangju City Sports Council, Kang Shingwan, president of the Namyangju City Taekwondo Association and association executives, as well as approximately 250 participants including demonstration team members and parents. The attendees celebrated the new beginning of the demonstration team together and shared plans for its future activities.
The first part of the orientation began with greetings from the host and introductions of distinguished guests, followed by welcome remarks from Association President Kang Shingwan and congratulatory speeches from Mayor Joo Gwangdeok, President Hwang Jeongri, and Sports Council President Yoon Seonghyeon. This was followed by a demonstration performance by the Taekwondo Demonstration Team, the presentation of the honorary public relations ambassador appointment plaque to the team, and a commemorative photo session. In the second part, the city provided guidance on the annual operation plan, including future training schedules, demonstration performance plans, safety management measures, and the direction for external activities.
Under this appointment, the Taekwondo Demonstration Team will serve as honorary public relations ambassadors for the city for two years, from February 22, 2026 to February 21, 2028. The team is composed of 120 elementary, middle, high school, and university students residing in the city, and they have been honing advanced techniques and group performances through training. Going forward, they will take on various roles, including Taekwondo demonstration performances and local promotional activities at various city events and external exchange stages.
Mayor Joo Gwangdeok said, "Taekwondo is a form of daily sports that embodies the values of courtesy, patience, consideration, and challenge," adding, "I hope the demonstration team will always put safety first in their activities and widely promote the spirit of Taekwondo and the stature of Namyangju."
Kang Shingwan, president of the Namyangju City Taekwondo Association, said, "I feel a great sense of responsibility as the Taekwondo Demonstration Team has been appointed as honorary public relations ambassadors for the city," and added, "Together with the members, we will present performances that meet citizens' expectations through consistent training and thorough preparation."
