Sokcho City Holds Awards Ceremony for Outstanding Proactive Public Servants (Teams) for Second Half of 2025 Sokcho City held an awards ceremony on the 23rd in the city hall situation room to honor outstanding public officials (teams) in proactive administration for the second half of 2025, and praised those who, through creative and proactive efforts, contributed to alleviating citizens' inconveniences and promoting administrative innovation. Provided by Sokcho City.

For the second half of the year, outstanding proactive administration cases were selected by comprehensively evaluating task difficulty, effectiveness, the level of impact felt by citizens, and potential for wider adoption, followed by deliberation by the Sokcho City Proactive Administration Support Committee. A total of five cases were chosen: one grand prize, one excellence prize, and three encouragement prizes.

The grand prize went to the Sewage Facilities Team of the Sewage Treatment Plant, which promoted the "Relocation and Modernization (Undergrounding) of the Public Sewage Treatment Facility" project. The Sewage Facilities Team finalized a plan to relocate and reconstruct a 70,000-ton-capacity sewage treatment facility in order to address the decline in treatment performance at an aging facility that had been in operation for more than 25 years, and to cope with additional sewage volumes arising from various development projects such as the East-West High-Speed Railway. The project received high marks for securing stable sewage treatment capacity and, through facility modernization, preventing odors and improving treatment efficiency.

The excellence prize was awarded to the "Yeongnangho Tourist Complex Development Project through Attraction of Large-Scale Private Investment," promoted by the Tourism Policy Team of the Tourism Division.

The encouragement prizes went to the following: "Construction Project for Covering the Sedimentation Basin and Intake Well at the Seorak Water Purification Plant" by Administrative Officer Kim Sugwon of the Clean Water Management Office; "Tourist City Sokcho, Carbon Neutrality in Practice through Public-Private Cooperation" by the Carbon Neutrality Team of the Environment-Friendly Division; and "Sokcho City Future Welfare Roadmap, the First Dong-Level Welfare Brand in Korea Designed Together with Residents in Joyang-dong" by the Visiting Health and Welfare Team of Joyang-dong.

Sokcho City plans to grant additional points in performance evaluations and provide monetary rewards to outstanding proactive public servants (teams), with the aim of spreading a public service culture that encourages active and dedicated work.

Mayor Lee Byeongseon of Sokcho City said, "These outstanding cases are valuable achievements created by on-site problem-solving and bold execution," adding, "We will continue to actively support the establishment of a proactive administration culture that citizens can truly feel across the entire organization."
