Mercury, a company specializing in information and communications equipment, is accelerating its push into the next-generation wireless network market.
Mercury announced on the 23rd that it has recently completed FCC certification for its "Premium 10G Wi-Fi 7 (IEEE 802.11be) AP (Access Point)" product for enterprise and telecom operators. Based on this certification, Mercury is starting full-scale commercial supply to the North American market and is currently conducting product tests with major customers in the United States and Japan.
Wi-Fi 7 is a next-generation wireless standard that supports transmission speeds of up to 10 Gbps. In line with the spread of ultra-high-resolution streaming, cloud gaming, and AI-based services, demand is rapidly increasing in telecom operator and enterprise network environments. The company explains that, in particular, as multi-gigabit broadband becomes more widespread, building high-performance wireless infrastructure is emerging as an essential requirement.
Mercury is not limiting this product to simple equipment supply but is pursuing a combined strategy of service integration. It has built a structure that can support both an integrated model with solutions from Plume, a global smart Wi-Fi platform company, and an independent (Non-Plume) management and operation model, allowing customers to choose and apply the solution according to their requirements. Through this, the company plans to diversify its target markets beyond telecom operators to include cable operators, regional Internet service providers (ISPs), and enterprise customers, thereby expanding its market coverage.
Technology verification and business discussions are currently under way mainly with customers in the United States and Japan, and it is reported that the company has received positive feedback from customers regarding the initial test results. The company is continuing strategic consultations with key customers for commercial supply.
A Mercury official said, "We are working to increase the share of our overseas business based on our broadband equipment and network solutions operations," adding, "As demand for high-performance APs is growing rapidly at the point of transition to Wi-Fi 7, we will seek to expand our global supply, focusing on the United States and Japanese markets."
