Galaxy Corporation announced on the 23rd that G-Dragon (legal name Kwon Jiyong), an invited professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at KAIST, delivered a congratulatory address to graduates at the 2026 commencement ceremony.

On the 20th, he appeared via video at the 2026 commencement ceremony held at the KAIST main campus in Daejeon to cheer on the graduates taking their first steps into society. President Lee Jaemyung and First Lady Kim Hye-kyung attended the ceremony.

In his congratulatory remarks, G-Dragon said, "You have done it, and you are the ones who will keep doing it," adding, "Now you are stepping into a world without right answers." He went on to say, "It is okay to be wrong as long as you do not stop," and emphasized, "The courage to choose a path different from others will ultimately take you the farthest."

G-Dragon’s connection with KAIST began in June 2024. At that time, KAIST appointed Professor Kwon as an invited professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering with the aim of integrating cutting-edge science and technology into the cultural industry to enhance the global competitiveness of Korean culture.

Since his appointment, G-Dragon has participated in "Innovate Korea" in both 2024 and 2025, taking part in discussions on the future of artificial intelligence (AI) entertech. Galaxy Corporation, his agency, is also collaborating with KAIST to establish an AI entertech research center and is conducting research on applying technologies such as metaverse (extended virtual world) technology to entertainment.

KAIST President Lee Kwanghyung stated, "Professor Kwon has a pioneering spirit for uncharted territories, and this aligns with the spirit of KAIST." At the time of his appointment, G-Dragon expressed his ambition to create new value by combining science and technology with entertainment.
