Koramco Asset Management announced on February 23 that, in order to expand its internet data center (IDC) business, it has expanded its related organization from the previous structure of one division to a structure of two divisions and three teams.
Koramco explained that, through this organizational expansion, it has further strengthened an integrated value chain that internalizes the entire IDC development process, from site discovery and securing power supply, to contract negotiations with cloud service providers (CSPs), financial structuring, design and construction management, and operation and asset management. Unlike competitors that mainly purchase and manage completed assets, Koramco emphasizes that it has secured differentiated competitiveness as a development-focused investment platform that participates directly from the planning stage and designs the profit structure.
Koramco is currently pursuing large-scale IDC developments in Seonggok in Ansan, Jangnim in Busan, and Yonghyeon in Uijeongbu. In addition, by adding a 100MW project in Uijeongbu, the company is pushing ahead with the establishment of a "data center belt" connecting Seoul, the greater Seoul metropolitan area, and Busan.
The company plans to build funding of approximately 5 trillion won by 2028 and, based on this, invest a total of 10 trillion won by 2032 to grow into a digital infrastructure platform that independently operates IDCs with a total power-receiving capacity of 1.4GW.
Kim Taewon, CEO of Koramco Asset Management, said, "By establishing the second IDC division and recruiting key talent, we will build a digital infrastructure investment platform that meets global standards and secure a dominant position in the domestic data center market."
