On February 23, Donghae City in Gangwon Province announced that it will promote an environmental improvement support project for restaurants, lodging businesses, and barbershops/beauty salons in order to create a hygienic and safe dining-out environment and to improve the business environments of small-business owners.
The eligible applicants are business operators located in Donghae City who have been in business for at least six months as of the application date and who operate food or public hygiene businesses that have not received administrative dispositions under relevant laws and regulations. A total of eight businesses will be selected, and each will be supported within a maximum amount of 6 million won.
The main areas of support are as follows: for the restaurant sector, improvements to table-style dining facilities and renovations of aging kitchen and restroom facilities; for the lodging sector, conversion to open-type reception counters and improvements to guest room layouts and breakfast facilities; and for the barbershop/beauty salon sector, replacement of washbasins, chairs, and equipment sterilizers.
Business owners who wish to apply should refer to the announcement on the city’s website and submit the required application documents, including the project application form, business plan, and small-business confirmation, by March 12, 2026. However, the project may end early if the budget is exhausted.
To prevent the use of subsidies for purposes other than those intended, the support funds will be paid after the project results are verified, and will be granted following the procedures of opening a bank account dedicated to the subsidy and confirming the deposit of the applicant’s own contribution.
Yoon Hye-kyung, head of the Preventive Management Division, said, “We are promoting an environmental improvement support project for restaurants, lodging businesses, and barbershops/beauty salons.”
