Donghae-si in Gangwon-do announced on the 23rd that it is simultaneously recruiting participants for the program "2026 Mukho Emotional Village Live in Donghae for One Month" and resident artists for the "Mukho Emotional Village Donghae Art Gallery," targeting artists in order to vitalize Mukho Emotional Village (the Nongoldam-gil area) as a base for stay-type tourism and as a hub for culture and the arts.

"2026 Mukho Emotional Village Live in Donghae for One Month" is a stay-type tourism program that utilizes vacant houses in Mukho Emotional Village, where artists stay and live in Donghae-si for one month, experience local cultural resources, and at the same time carry out talent-donation and promotional activities for citizens and tourists. A total of six people will be recruited, with one person selected for each type of accommodation and each residency period, including a one-month-stay housing type and an apartment-type housing. Participants will choose one of the three residency periods operated between March and June 2026 and stay for one month.

The "Mukho Emotional Village Donghae Art Gallery" project uses the exhibition room and studio inside the Nongol Cultural Center to provide artists with stable spaces for creation and exhibition, and to operate an open cultural space that residents and tourists can visit at any time. The project period runs from April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027, and one individual artist or one team will be selected. The selected resident artist will carry out creative and exhibition activities during the residency period.

Both projects are open to holders of the Artist Pass, and applicants must be able to provide free talent-donation activities for local residents or tourists during their residency or stay. Those selected must conduct at least one online promotional activity per week in parallel with their creative work and submit a final report after the project ends.

The application period for both projects runs from February 19 to February 27, 2026, and submissions can be made in person, by mail, or by email. Final selection will be made through document screening and other procedures, and detailed information can be found in the announcement on the Donghae City Hall website.

Sunok Kim, head of the Culture and Arts Division, said, "This project is a lifestyle tourism model in which artists stay in Mukho Emotional Village to create, and extend their activities to exhibitions and exchanges," adding, "We hope for strong interest and participation from capable artists so that Mukho Emotional Village can become a place where artists' creative activities and citizens' enjoyment of culture come together in harmony."
