Barrier-free films are content produced with audio description and subtitles so that anyone, including people with visual impairments and seniors, can enjoy them comfortably. Through this support, the foundation and the Barrier-Free Film Committee plan to work together to expand the reach of barrier-free films and to improve access to culture and the arts for people with visual impairments.

The funds delivered by the foundation will be used for an "On-site Barrier-Free Film Screening" program for students at special schools for the visually impaired, who ordinarily have limited opportunities to go to the cinema. Special schools for the visually impaired nationwide can apply, and each school will independently hold screenings from April to December.

In addition, the funds will be used for the production of films to be screened at the "16th Seoul Barrier-Free Film Festival" to be held in November. The Sampyo Group plans to sponsor the costs of producing subtitles and audio description scripts for the short films submitted to the festival, helping more works reach audiences.

The Sampyo Group has continued its support for the spread of barrier-free culture since it held its first barrier-free film screening in cooperation with the Jeollanam-do Welfare Center for the Disabled in 2022. Starting this year, the Jeong Inwook Academic Scholarship Foundation has taken over and is carrying on the same initiative.

Yoo Yongjae, Secretary-General of the Jeong Inwook Academic Scholarship Foundation, said, "We hope that barrier-free films will enable not only people with visual impairments but many others to empathize with one another and to encounter a wider world," adding, "We will continue to serve as a strong bridge to lower the invisible barriers that exist throughout our society so that everyone can enjoy culture without discrimination."
