Singer Jeong Dongwon is enlisting in the Marine Corps on February 23.


His agency Showplay Entertainment stated on this day, "He will enter the Marine Corps Education and Training Group to fulfill his mandatory military service." The agency added, "This decision reflects a wish that Jeong Dongwon has cherished for a long time," and said, "He made a responsible choice to keep the promise he made to himself."


It continued, "We ask for your warm support so that he can complete his service in good health and return more mature," adding, "We will continue to support him unwaveringly until the day he comes back."


Jeong Dongwon, who debuted in 2019, rose to fame by finishing in fifth place on TV Chosun's audition program "Mr. Trot" in 2020. Born in 2007, Jeong Dongwon graduated this month from the School of Performing Arts Seoul.


On February 5, Jeong Dongwon released his remake mini album "Sopumjip Vol.2," and on February 13, he held his first fan concert at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, where he met with fans. This concert, which was his last official event before enlistment, was sold out in all seats.


After completing basic military training, Jeong Dongwon is scheduled to serve for 18 months.
