Praying for a Bountiful Harvest with Mineral Spring Rituals and Water-Combining Ceremony
A Festival of Harmony Bringing Together Residents and Tourists
Sancheong-gun in South Gyeongsang Province announced on the 23rd that the 19th Jirisan Sancheong Gorosoe Yaksu Festival will be held on the 28th in the area around the Dried Persimmon Distribution Center in Sicheon-myeon.
This festival, organized by the Sancheong-gun Gorosoe Association, aims to promote the excellence of Gorosoe sap, which carries the spring energy of Jirisan, and to serve as a venue of harmony where local residents and tourists come together.
The festival will open with a ritual for the mineral spring, praying for the well-being of Sancheong residents and a bountiful harvest of Gorosoe mineral water, followed by a ceremonial water-combining event.
Along with the commemorative ceremony that follows, a variety of programs will be offered for everyone to enjoy, including a mineral water drinking contest, free tasting of Gorosoe, performances by invited singers and local artists, and a singing contest for residents and visitors.
In particular, Gorosoe sap will be sold at a 20% discount on the day of the event. Although the festival itself is held only on the 28th, the Gorosoe marketplace will remain open until March 1 so that visitors can purchase Gorosoe at their leisure.
Lee Seungyoung, head of the Sancheong-gun Gorosoe Association, said, "Sancheong Jirisan Gorosoe is characterized by its clear and deep taste, as it grows naturally in the highlands of Jirisan at around 1,000 meters above sea level," adding, "Thanks to the large daily temperature range this year, the quality of the sap is even better, so I hope many people will visit the site and enjoy Gorosoe."
Meanwhile, the name Gorosoe is derived from the Chinese characters "Gollisu (骨利水)," meaning "water that is beneficial to the bones." It is known to be effective for arthritis, gastrointestinal disorders, and skin care due to its magnesium, calcium, and natural mineral content.
